![]() The reason why I created this thread is that I don’t know how it got up to 66MB/s, would start at 66MB/s then drop to a sixth of that. For some, it slow download may be caused by a simple bug in the Steam. This additionally happened out of the blue while down loading where it again went up to ~66MB/s then slowly declines down. What causes slow Steam download speed Downloading any Steam game or update can become excruciatingly slow due to many factors. When the connection is new (pausing and restarting download, changing connection, etc.) it starts up at ~66MB/s about a minute later, it’s all the way back at ~15MB/s. I additionally checked if steam is up to date and it currently is. This didn’t result in huge changes (+5MB/s at most) I checked to see if it was the server location and changed the download region to a closer city. The used setting that worked for me was 1.0 Gbps Full Duplex. Set the Value to the max possible network speed (not Auto Negotiation) Tried clearing download cache and chage regions but it did nothing or made it worse. Open the Properties of the connected adapterĦ. Downloaded at 50-60 MB (Epic Games downloads at this rate with no problem), yet steam barely breaks the 2 MB peak now, going has down has 200-300KB average download speed.
